The dried seed of the herb Cuminum cyminum and a member of the Parsley family, Cumin is yellowish brown seeds and has a very penetrating, earthy, slightly bitter flavour. A key component in both Chili Powder and Curry Powder.
The flavour of Cumin plays a major role in Mexican, Thai, Vietnamese and Indian cuisines. Cumin is a critical ingredient of chili powder and is found in achiote blends, adobos, garam masala, curry powder, and baharat. Use in Mexican dishes such as fajitas and tacos, in Middle Eastern dishes such as falafels and couscous.
